It's 2021 & Your Highest Self Is Calling
Okay, so I know some of you might read the above and be like 🙄 what is this wofty business, BUT, give me one second to see if I can break the above down and explain what your highest self means and why we need to find him/her to find fulfilment in our lives.
Let’s start with your highest self is you. It is the clearest, most wise, knowing version of yourself. We all have one and she/he is there to guide you through your life journey. If you follow guidance from your highest self, your path through life should become flowing, move with ease and it will become clear what your purpose is in this sacred human life. The word for ‘life’s purpose’ in Ayurveda is Dharma and it believes we all have a purpose too fulfil in this life time.
However, we become disconnect and torn away from our highest self’s from moving through life in a state of unawareness and following our ego. We become layered in things that do not belong to us, that are not our own to carry. We consume things that don’t serve us, that being food, habits, media, people, jobs etc. Moving through life in a state of unawareness creates a disconnection from our highest self, and our heart, and life becomes a struggle. Everything seems difficult and we confront life with resistance, which in-turn leads to more resistance. The magic and flow of life is lost and we become a shadow of who we truly are.
The highest self lives in the heart, so if you are wondering where to start, start there.
What do you love?
What lights you up?
What are you passionate about?
What do you love about yourself?
How do you show love?
Who do you show love to?
What does it feel like to receive love?
Am I able to give and receive love with ease?
Can I feel love without pain?
Do you let yourself love fully or do you hold back in fear of getting hurt?
Explore these questions, sit with them, contemplate them, journal over them. If we are disconnected from our heart, then the divine wisdom of the highest self is not going to be able to come through. That is why it is so important to fill our cup up with things we love, things that bring joy and make us feel juicy (my word of the year!), and most importantly give ourselves rest.
The practise of Ayurveda gives you more clarity on who you truly are because it helps you witness your own behaviours and habits and helps you analyse what may be unsupportive or out of alignment with your true essence. It forces you to turn your awareness inwards which ultimately is how we create a deeper connection with ourselves, find more compassion, let go of what does not serve us, and in-turn, become connected to ourselves again. Everything about us humans is so intrinsically linked, but breadcrumb trails we are given from our bodies and our highest self are often missed because we are too distracted or not paying attention.
So how do you connect to your Highest Self?
Do more of what you love 💗 it will help you connect to your highest self, your true essence, and this will help guide you towards your Dharma. Living your Dharma is what will lead to a fulfilling life.
If you don’t know what you love experiment. I always say life is one big experiment so we need to play and explore to find our way and our path. There is no such thing as a ‘wrong’ decision, it is all learning and part of the game of life. Have fun with it 🙃
Be quiet and sit with yourself. Tell your highest self you want to connect with him/her and see/feel what sensations come through your body. Start with something simple like, ‘Highest self I would like to connect with you, show me a sign in my body that you are there.’ Note what comes through. And remember patience!
2021 is the year to connect to our divine wisdom and be lead by the heart, you all have the ability within you 💪🏻
